About Gardiner's Gardens
In 2006 Alexis and Bob acquired a home in the Village of Fox Valley. In fact it was the home in which Alexis grew up. For two years we stayed weekends and any weeks we could from our then home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. During our second year we began planting our prairie orchard including saskatoon bushes and cherry trees. The orchards started from seedlings so it took another two years to even know there were trees growing. The orchard in now producing a limited ampount of fruit fir our use and to sell to local consumers. In the third year we planted raspberries and are now enjoying the fruit of this wonderful plant.
In 2008 we acquired the old Lutheran church in Fox Valley. The church had a wonderful history as an important part of the local community beginning in 1914. Over the years the congregation grew and then declined until the last families merged with a church in the neighbouring community of Maple Creek. The old church building needed new custodians of the structure and memories.
In 2010, Alexis and Bob Gardiner renovated the church to provide retail and office facilites and we launched Prairie Birds.com and Dragonfly Arts and Cultural Centre.
